VEGAN CLEANSERS THAT ARE CLEAN AND GOOD FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

Part of my skincare routine has always been to wash my face no matter what before I go to sleep every night. Does anyone else remember Noxzema? I can’t believe that I thought cleansing my face with Noxzema was a good thing! There are so many bad ingredients in this product that are a hard no for me that I would never use now.

Choosing the correct cleanser for your skin type is so important. There are great formulas out there in the clean beauty world whether your skin is sensitive, dry, or oily. Your cleanser should clean off all your make up without stripping your skin of all its moisture. You want to use a gentle cleanser that will maintain your PH level. I’ve had friends say that the cleanser doesn’t really matter, since it is used to wash off your make up and isn’t staying on the skin for long. It might not stay on the skin for long, but I have found that if my skin isn’t cleansed gently with the right formula for me; it takes a lot of other products to correct that tight, dry feeling. I also consider cleansing as part of my daily self-care. I find cleansing my face soothing, almost meditative. I’ve found several clean beauty brands with vegan cleansers to choose from.

So, here is my review for the clean, vegan cleansers that I have tried over the last several months. I wanted to give you a broad assortment of price ranges to choose from; all the cleansers are of course free from all the bad stuff: like phthalates, parabens, PEGS, and all the other toxic ingredients, and of course all the products listed are vegan and cruelty free.

IN THIS POST:

*The ingredients you don’t want in your cleanser

*Best Clean, Vegan Cleansers at Various Price Points

I was shocked to see when I started researching cleaner choices in my skincare that some of the top cleansers that I grew up using like Noxzema, and Cetaphil contained ingredients that are so bad for our health.

The ingredients you don’t want in your skincare:

Propylene Glycol-is used as a skin conditioning agent. It is an organic alcohol that has been associated with skin irritation including dermatitis. These reactions can occur with a concentration as low as 2%.

BHT- is a toluene-based ingredient used as a preservative. Toluene is derived from petroleum and coal tar. You definitely don’t want to be using that to cleanse your skin!

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-is an ingredient that is used as a foaming agent. It is known to cause skin irritation.

Fragrance-Brands don’t necessarily need to tell you what is in the fragrance that is in their products, which is shocking and scary. Fragrances are commonly made up of a mix of toxic chemicals. So, unless the brand is transparent about what is in the fragrance and the ingredients are clean, fragrance is a hard NO for any type of products.

Mineral Oil- This type of oil is distilled from petroleum! Another hard No ingredient.

PEGS-Are most likely contaminated with 1,4 dioxan which can penetrate the skin and is linked to a host of health issues, including cancer, organ and respiratory toxicity, and skin irritation.

BEST CLEAN, VEGAN CLEANSERS:

This formula is great for normal to sensitive skin. With Argan extract, peony extract and sunflower amino acids this creamy cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized. As you take in the fragrance when you are cleansing, you can smell the peony; It’s subtle, but really nice and soothing. I take dime size amount of the product and massage it gently onto my already wet face. It doesn’t remove all my eye make up on the first cleanse, so I take a small amount and cleanse just my eyes a second time and that does the trick. At $10.99 you can’t beat the price.

COCOKIND OIL TO MILK CLEANSER: $18 for a one time purchase or $16.56 with a subscription. You get free shipping if you subscribe.

The Cocokind brand has products that feel luxurious at a great price. This formula is great for combination, dry, and sensitive skin. I love this formula with fermented oat lipid complex as well as an organic oil blend of grape seed oil and sunflower seed oil. There are no essential oils in this product, so if you have a sensitivity to essential oils, this is a win, win for you. All the Cocokind products are vegan with the exception of three. The non-vegan products are called out on their website.

This cleanser is an oil balm that turns in a rich creamy texture when you add it to damp hands. You apply it to your face dry. After I am done gently massaging all over my face, I just rinse it off and my face is completely cleansed and feeling balanced and soft. This cleanser takes my all my eye makeup off with little effort and it doesn’t sting my eyes.

HERBIVORE PINK CLOUD: $26 3.3oz or $22 with a subscription. There is also a trial size of 1.7oz for $15, which is a great way to give this cleanser a try.

This cleanser is low foaming and non-drying. It is specifically formulated for dry and sensitive skin. It’s PH balanced formula cleanses and hydrates your skin. The vegan squalene gives it a creamy almost silky texture which turns into a gentle lather. It removes all your eye makeup, so you don’t have to use a separate eye makeup remover. I used one pump to cleanse, so the 3.3 oz bottle lasted for a while.

True Botanicals – Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm - $52 for a one-time purchase or $44.20 with a subscription

This one is definitely a splurge. I had been wanting to try this cleanser for a while. It is so rich and balmy, I love it. It has a beautiful golden color and it smells amazing. It has Yucca plan as a foaming agent to remove all your makeup while nourishing your skin as well as turmeric, ginger root, and cucumber seed oil that work together to calm the skin and restore radiance. You just need a small amount (I use about a nickel size amount) emulsify it in your hands and apply to dry skin. It goes on like an oil and when you apply water it turns into a milky lather. It takes off all your make up (including eye makeup) and it does not sting your eyes. You won’t regret the splurge.

So, there you have my top picks for clean, vegan cleansers. I hope you find a cleanser that works for you from this post.

With Love,

Tracey
